Naturally Good: Showcasing Australia’s Natural and Organic Leaders

May 24, 2023

With just two weeks to go until Naturally Good 2023, we are sharing three exhibitor stories with you so you can get a preview of what you will find in Sydney this year. As always, this year’s Naturally Good will feature truly innovative products ready for ranging by retailers across Australia.

From the Start-Up Zone

Naturally Good has a zone dedicated to start-ups, allowing the latest brands to get in front of retailer buyers. This year we have 45 brand new entrants into Naturally Good. We were lucky to speak to one of our newest exhibitors, Shane Connolly from SunJuse this week.

It is always exciting to hear the stories behind the brands, and SunJuse is a fitting example of the innovation and passion that goes into bringing an exciting new product to life. Shane created SunJuse Energy Drinks when he could not find a convenient product “he would be happy to give to his children or offer to friends”. Seeking a product without artificial flavours, a lower caffeine profile, and something that tasted great, he was looking for something he could not find on Australian shelves, so he and his business partner Paul Kinross made one themselves.

Batch crafted with Australia’s finest sun-ripened fruit, SunJuse promises the taste of the rich, fruity goodness of a daily serving of antioxidants and Vitamin C, grounded with earthy energizing tea & coffee extracts.

SunJuse Energy Drinks

Shane shared with us all the trial and error that came with finding the perfect flavour combinations and with countless batches tried the result is a product that he is not only proud of but tastes great. The drink tastes like real fruit with a nice balance of sweet and sour, unlike other sugar-heavy or artificial options that are ubiquitous today. The final prototypes contain 40% fruit and green coffee beans, matcha, and acai, which combine to produce a sophisticated option within the energy drink category.

SunJuse is looking for ranging at Naturally Good and are also finalists in 2 of our annual awards categories, best new drink, and best Australian manufactured product. Award winners will be announced in Sydney on Monday 5th June.

Exhibitors from across Australia

Dirty Clean Foods are one of the many exhibitors joining Naturally Good from across Australia. Direct from the farms of Western Australia to Naturally Good, supplying one of the world’s best oat milks. Dirty Clean Food is exhibiting and is a sponsor of the Central Hub so you can come and try barista-made coffee at the exhibition.

At Dirty Clean Food it is not just the amazing taste of their oat milk, but it is a unique offering. The team from WA is collaborating with farmers who embrace regenerative agricultural practices. The result is a product that is better tasting, better for the planet, and better for consumers. There is a strong drive from consumers to seek out products that also address climate change, so this is a great example of a product that delivers on taste, is non-dairy, and is helping to make a difference to the environment through sustainable practices. This is just one example of the great innovation you will see at Naturally Good 2023.

Stay tuned for more innovations from the team at Dirty Clean Food as they are launching into alternative proteins, working again with farmers they are trailblazing lupin as the next big thing to hit the alternative protein market.

International Products and Exhibitors

Naturally Good attracts exhibitors from far and wide with an exciting range of international products available.

We spoke to Matt Foale from Symingtons who have been in Australia for the past 13 years but have been trailblazing in the UK for over 190 years. The global trends for developing better-for-you snacking options are important for every snack aisle, whether you are an independent supermarket or a convenience chain. There is a strong demand for their latest launch Nakd nut and fruit bars which are popular amongst Australian travellers who have enjoyed Nakd bars in stores throughout Europe. Using a unique cold-pressed manufacturing process the bars are 100% natural delicious, vegan, gluten and dairy-free. A proven product from the UK you can come meet with Matt and try it for yourself. Matt first exhibited at Naturally Good at the first-ever show with Musashi and is back this year with exciting new offerings.

Symingtons will also be bringing Bear Fruit Snacks to Naturally Good, made from 100% fruit, the better-for-you snack product is designed for kids’ lunch boxes. The product has educational cards that teach little ones about endangered animals along with snacks parents know are nut free and contain nothing but real fruit.

The team from Off-Piste Provisions New Zealand, including Sales Manager Will Baldock, is also flying over to support the launch of their plant-based jerky in Australia. Designed for adventurers and weekend warriors hitting the trails or conscious consumers looking for products that are better for the planet, their innovative products focus on the quality, taste, and texture that can now be achieved in the alternative protein space.

Off-Piste Provisions

Off-Piste Provisions’ founder, Jade, who had worked in the meat and dairy industry for two decades, understands this better than anyone. “We came to the realisation that our biggest personal impact on climate change was through the greenhouse gas emissions of our food choices, with 37% of New Zealand’s coming from livestock”.

Off-Piste Provisions teamed up with leading food scientists, sports nutritionists, and chefs to design a better jerky that is better for consumers and helps the planet. We know the brand which is pitched towards the most adventurous consumers will be a big hit in Australia and having tasted it, we know it delivers.
